steel ship was built in England in 1888. Runned by a steam engine it had
102 meters in length and 2.730 tons. It navigated with a shipment of coffee,
approximately 14 km from the port of Guarapari, when its motor died and
the ship drifted out towards submerged rocks."Bellucia Ship"
was stranded on the rocks. Finally, after an intense fight to recover part
of its load, it sank during the night of the February 15, 1903. In its
way to the bottom the pyramidal stone caused it to break in two huge parts
creating by this way two of the best diving points of Brazil. Nowadays, the fishermen call it "Berlucio" which is very well-known among them for the enormous abundance of fish that exist in the shipwreck area. |
